SIXTH GRADE TEAM BUILDING
OCT 9-- In preparation for their small group work in literature circles, sixth graders took part in several team building activities. First, the whole group was challenged to find a way to cross the river of lava with stepping stones. The trick was that stepping stones would float away if someone wasn't in constant contact with them! After making several deals and sacrifices to get lost stepping stones back, the sixth graders finally accomplished their goal and successfully crossed the river of lava!
OCT 11-- Students broke into their small groups and worked on three new challenges. In the elevation challenge, students had to work together to find a way to safely lift their entire group off the ground for 10 seconds. Only their hands were allowed to touch the ground. In the aqueduct challenge, students had to work together to transport a ball across a room and drop it into a bucket using only pieces of paper. They were not allowed to move their feet when they had the ball, nor were they allowed to touch the ball. Finally, in the maze challenge, students had to work together to find the correct path across a 4x4 grid. Only one person was allowed to enter the maze at a time and they were not allowed to use anything to mark their path.
