This summer Mike and his summer helper, Dylan, painted two walls in my classroom, and it looks fantastic! It feels so much brighter and inviting in this room. Plus, over the summer I rearranged the classroom to make it a more comfortable and student-centered. I got rid of two filing cabinets, got rid of my teacher desk, and I added a conference table and a reading nook (see photo above). Check out the video at the bottom of the page to see the before and after! Speaking of videos, this summer I also created a YouTube account for my LA classes. I take a lot of videos throughout the school year, and I thought YouTube was a great way to share them. (Only students whose parents/guardians have signed the permission slip to share their work/images will be posted online.) You can access our channel by clicking here. Currently we have some amazing book trailers posted that were made by some students last year. If you are interested, you can also connect with us this year on Twitter. We have a class Twitter account (click here) that we will use to connect with authors and students in other classes. Be on the look out for more information about our Twitter account in the coming week. Those are the major changes in our classroom this year. Parents, be sure to stop by during Open House in October (date TBA), and check out our room! Happy First Day!
